Low Layer Twist Damascus Prototype

This was my first attempt at a low layer twist pattern. The blade measures 4 inches. Overall length of the knife is 8.5 inches. The blade, guard, and butt cap are made of the low layer twist Damascus combination of 1080 and 15N20 steels. The sheath is made of 9 ounce heavy leather with the center carved to resemble an alligator print. It was dyed, molded, tooled, and hand sewn.
I plan to take pictures from start to finish  when I make another one next week. Santa came early and I got a lot of goodies to play with.  Beautiful highly figured walnut, Koa, and Mango woods, just waiting on the steels.

October and November 2017

I've been busy making a lot of these little neck knives. Many have sold locally as well as online.

This set is made exclusively from O-1 Tool Steel. The sheath is made from Kydex and paracord.
I made the handles out of paper micarta I also created.

The blades measure approximately 2 7/8 inches, 5 3/4 inches overall.

April 2012

Super busy with remodeling our house and moving, so not much time for knife making in April and May.

I've been working on this hunter style knife off and on for the last two months to get it just right.
The blade of the knife measures 5.5 inches long, 9.5 inches over all, and was forged from 5160 Spring Steel. The knife features a forged blued mild steel guard, and stabilized dyed green blue quilted maple handle.

The hand stitched sheath is made of 8-9 ounce heavy oak tanned leather. The sheath was tooled, molded, dyed, and sealed.

The blade of the miniature knife measures 1 7/8 inches, 3 1/2 inches over all, and was forged from an allen wrench, tool steel . The knife features a hand carved stag handle, and brass guard.

The sheath is made of 5-6 ounce leather. The sheath was tooled into a pattern, molded, dyed, and sealed. This is a fully functional knife, miniature sized. It is extremely sharp and not a toy.
